CELLS (Center for Excellence of Lesson and Learning Studies), Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, in collaboration with CRICED (Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development), University of Tsukuba; Indonesia Association of Lesson Study (ALSI); and Indonesia Association of STEM Education (IA-STEM), offers the Executive International Microcredential in STEM Leadership, Learning Leadership and Innovation in Japan 2026.
This blended international program is designed for education practitioners, school leaders, private school foundation leaders, teacher educators, lecturers, and educational researchers who seek to strengthen evidence-based educational leadership through direct engagement with Japanese research lessons, collaborative teacher reflection, STEM-related school practice, and institutional innovation.
The program combines pre-departure online learning through an LMS, a one-week immersion in Japan, and a post-program capstone. During the Japan immersion, participants will observe authentic research lessons in Mathematics, Science, Language, and Technology; engage in structured reflection with experienced Japanese teachers and school leaders; attend academic sessions with professors from CRICED, University of Tsukuba; and participate in STEM industry visits and hands-on workshops led by industry experts. The program will take place in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, Japan, from 23 to 30 November 2026.
Microcredential Requirements
As a microcredential, the program is not based on attendance alone. Participants are expected to complete pre-departure LMS activities, develop a research lesson observation portfolio, write a critical reflection essay, design an institutional action plan or capstone project, and present their final plan for peer feedback. Participants who successfully complete all requirements will receive an Executive Microcredential Certificate and a Digital Badge.
