Research at the Center for Excellence of Lesson and Learning Studies (CELLS) is directed toward the development of reflective, interdisciplinary, and contextual learning with tangible impacts on educational institutions in Indonesia and across Asia–Africa.
CELLS publishes research outputs in national and international journals, especially in the areas of science education, pedagogical innovation, and lesson study frameworks.
CELLS has produced key outputs such as STEM-based Lesson Study modules, interdisciplinary dissertations, interactive digital products, and the Open Class Movement (GBK) model under copyright and patent process. The team also publishes policy briefs and actively contributes to national and international academic forums.
CELLS actively collaborates with domestic and international institutions to conduct joint research, develop lesson prototypes, and share best practices across Asia and Africa.
CELLS plays an active role in the Campus Asia+ program, a student exchange initiative that strengthens academic collaboration across Asia. In 2025, UPI hosted participants from Hiroshima University and HUFS Korea, offering cultural immersion, interfaith dialogue, and educational fieldwork to promote regional understanding and tolerance.
